The award winning HLS is an system featuring a series of threaded stainless steel or anodised aluminium minipucks inserted flush into straight or curved handrail pipe, square sections or flat metallic surfaces. Planet Lighting’s HLS installation at Manningham Bridge won a LiDA Commendation with the judges citing it as a fantastic example of what can be done with LED technology as well as praising its energy efficiency. The HLS LED Handrail minipuck won the Next Generation Luminaire (US Department of Energy Design Award).
Each minipuck contains a Cree LED of the highest efficiency, optically controlled to provide an oval shaped beam with a sharp cut-off designed to obtain maximum illumination with a high degree of uniformity, minimal glare, light spill or wasted light. The minipucks can be installed in new handrails or retrofitted into existing handrails, providing vandal resistant, economic, waterproof and elegant lighting system which has been used all over the world in public spaces, theatres, hotels, airports, stadiums and universities. The LED handrail lighting system has recently been chosen to illuminate the main steps from Stratford Station to the Olympic Village for the 2012 London Olympics.
